STFC have decided to tighten their belts by not awarding Postdoc Fellowships this year. This not only closes a door for me, it put another dozen or so applicants back into the already tiny pool of Postdoc jobs that are available. And the applicants that go back into this pool are probably the best in the nation (you need to be something special to get a Fellowship.) So it might be time for me to leave the UK and go elsewhere in search of a particle physics job. That's unfortunate. On the other hand, I've had a great time at SLAC and a real physics lab is actually a very very nice place to work. Update on life in general, and the big questions related to such matters will follow, but I'm in no hurry.

I'm pissed off at people, news broadcasts and the tabloids saying: "SNOW! Global what now?"

Global warming causes extreme weather. It doesn't mean that the world is turning into a sauna!

Mind, I only know this because of the work I did as an intern in Japan for environmental policies. I shall go do something productive now.
